Description:

Rhodochrosite from the Sweet Home Mine in Colorado is prized for its rhombohedral crystals and rich, vibrant coloration. This particular Rhodochrosite specimen features a striking glassy luster and a rare large single crystal with high integrity. The semi-transparent crystal showcases an intense pink hue, whether illuminated or not.

The Sweet Home Mine began operations as a silver mine in 1873, and during the silver extraction, many exquisite Rhodochrosite specimens were discovered. With the economic boom of the 1990s in the U.S., Sweet Home Rhodochrosite became highly sought after by collectors, and the mine produced some of the world's finest Rhodochrosite specimens, including the renowned 'Alma King' and 'Crystal Wall.' However, when the Sweet Home Mine closed in 2004, it marked the end of an era for collectors seeking these exceptional Rhodochrosite specimens. To this day, the passion for Sweet Home Rhodochrosite continues to rise alongside its increasing value.
